Proposing Session(s): The Proposal Form gathers standardized information from all potential concurrent session presenters. To be considered, presentations must meet the standards for continuing education/recertification credit that have been established by SHRM and the HR Certification Institute.

Presentation Tracks: Business Management & Strategy; Employee & Labor Relations; International HR; Leadership & Professional Development; Talent Management; Total Rewards

Length of Presentation - 1 hour

UNIQUE Opportunity: In each concurrent session time block, there is one session identified as a “UNIQUE Session.” These sessions are intended to be interactive with experiential learning, delivered in a large, open area with banquet-style seating and NO PowerPoint. If you would like to propose a Unique Session, check the box on the proposal form, and we will contact you to discuss your concept.

DEADLINE: Submit your Concurrent Session proposal(s) by the EXTENDED DEADLINE of Friday, September 29 at 5:00 pm CT.

Continuing Education (Recertification) Credit: As an approved provider of continuing education hours for the SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, and GPHR certifications, HR Houston will manage the approval process for accepted presentations.

  • As part of the approval process for SHRM PDCs, information for the SHRM Competencies will be added by HR Houston for your session.

  • HR Certification Institute has very specific criteria regarding approval of presentations for Business (Strategic) credit - click here.  HR Certification Institute, not HR Houston, determines the type of approval granted.

Speaker Fees & Expenses: HR Houston does not pay speaker fees or reimburse expenses for the concurrent session presenters. Travel arrangements are the responsibility of the speaker.

Complimentary Symposium Registration:
If selected as a concurrent session presenter, you receive a complimentary Full Conference registration.

Marketing Policy: Our 27 years of experience has proven that knowledgeable speakers who provide their audiences with practical information on important issues in a professional manner will naturally attract potential clients or customers. Therefore, we ask that you agree to refrain from using your presentation as a promotional opportunity for your company’s products or services. Neither SHRM nor HRCI will grant credit for sales/marketing presentations.

Selection Process

  • Complete the online proposal form. Describe your presentation succinctly so the description and objectives can be submitted to certifying bodies for continuing education credit.
  • Submitted materials will be reviewed for content, quality and relevance to HR Houston’s program goals by a project team of practicing HR Professionals.
  • Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
  • HR Houston reserves the right to check professional references to verify presentation quality and the presenter's skill.
  • If the proposal is accepted, you will receive an invitation to participate by mid-November. The email will include information regarding the schedule and other details relevant to your presentation. If your proposal is not selected, you will be notified as soon as the speaker line-up is confirmed.

Other Speaking Opportunities: Educational Sessions are also offered at Chapter Meetings. To propose a presentation, visit our home page and click on the Monthly Meeting Proposal link under Quick Links.
