DAY 1: NAVIGATING EMPLOYEE LEAVES UNDER THE FMLA
This interactive, example-driven program will provide coverage of employer obligations, and employee rights, under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Department of Labor’s implementing regulations. The scope of the program includes basic, fundamental FMLA concepts, as well as more nuanced issues faced by human resource professionals, supervisors, and managers every day—and the course will address these topics in light of the heightened awareness by the DOL and the courts of employee medical leave issues.
DAY 2: COMPLEX EMPLOYEE LEAVE CHALLENGES UNDER THE FMLA, ADA & BEYOND
This interactive program is designed for HR Professionals who have a basic understanding of the FMLA and who would like to work through more advanced issues such as overlapping leave obligations under the FMLA and ADA, complex employee leave and return to work situations, and some of the more complicated administrative issues resulting from an organization’s obligations under these laws. The format of this presentation will include delivery of traditional content, as well as extensive use of hypotheticals drawing on real employee leave situations.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER: ALEXIS C. KNAPP, JD, SPHR is a Shareholder with Littler Mendelson. She represents employers in all areas of labor and employment law, appearing in state and federal courts and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Alexis handles litigation against both private and governmental plaintiffs and has specific experience with matters arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, Older Workers Benefit Protection Act, and Fair Labor Standards Act. She has been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) since 2003.
