SPEAKER PROPOSALS
The call for 2017 concurrent session speaker proposals closed on September 26, 2016. CLICK HERE and provide your contact information to be added to the prospective speaker database so you receive electronic notice when the call for 2018 proposals opens in August 2017.

ONLINE SESSION COLLATERALS (OSC) - FINAL DEADLINE APRIL 6 AT 5:00 PM (CST)
Through the Symposium website, registered attendees have access to presenter’s materials, which are password-protected.

BENEFITS of submitting your presentation for the OSC:

     • Increases the odds of your session being chosen by an attendee
     • Gives you the option of eliminating the cost of hard copy handouts
     • Extends your post-conference presence, where attendees can revisit your material for up to 1 year
     • Provides the only way - other than exhibiting - to include marketing information about you or your company for attendees
     • Use your last slide/page to share information about your blogs, social media presence, newsletters and/or whitepapers
     • Positively impacts your session evaluation results from attendees

In 2016, 85% of concurrent session speakers submitted presentation files that resulted in over 11,600 page views, with the site accessed 2,300 times.

To submit your presentation for the OSC:

     1. CLICK HERE to review the Marketing Policy prior to preparing your presentation
Note that contact information may only appear on the LAST slide
Slide Format should be set for a 16:9 ratio

     2. Send a pdf file of your presentation to GCSspeakers@hrhouston.org before THURSDAY, APRIL 6 at 5:00 PM (CST)
     3. The password-protected presentations will go live for registered attendees in mid-April and will remain accessible
         to attendees through March 2018.

BE AWARE submitting a presentation for the OSC and then changing it significantly for your delivery may frustrate attendees who are using it for note-taking.  In our experience, it's not unusual for that comment to appear on speaker evaluations.

SPEAKER HANDOUTS
Although attendees are able to download and print from the OSC site, we anticipate that not all will bring their own copies, so they may still appreciate handouts.  Handouts are not required, but many speakers still provide them.  All handouts must conform to the Marketing Policy guidelines.  The conference cannot be responsible for reimbursement of these expenses.

SESSION ATTENDANCE
We do not collect information on session selection at registration and so are unable to provide session attendance numbers prior to the conference.

MARKETING
Please refrain from promoting your company’s products or services during your presentations.  Neither SHRM nor the HR Certification Institute will not grant recertification credit for sales/marketing presentations.

The Symposium’s Marketing Policy includes, but is not limited to, the following:

     1. Contact information is limited to the last PowerPoint slide or handout page
     2. DO NOT solicit or collect attendee contact information
     3. NO selling, "raffling off” or drawings for any products or services.  (These activities are perfectly acceptable from an
exhibit booth, but not in an educational session.)
     4. NO videotaping, audiotaping or photography in sessions without prior approval is not permitted.

Interested in other marketing opportunities at Symposium? CONTACT US via email or call 713.426.2646.

Each session room will be equipped with the following "standard” AV equipment.  (Please note this does NOT apply to Unique Sessions held in the UNIQUE ZONE).

     • Podium
     • Wireless lavaliere microphone
     • LCD projector

IF YOU PLAN TO USE A LAPTOP IN YOUR PRESENTATION, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING IT WITH YOU.

SYMPOSIUM REGISTRATION
In appreciation of your participation, we are pleased to extend one full conference registration to confirmed concurrent session speakers. This offer is non-transferrable and is valued up to $820. The speaker badge you receive at Speaker Check-In will provide access to all of the sessions and Exhibit Hall.

If you are bringing a technical assistant, that individual will have access to your session ONLY. If he/she wishes to attend other sessions and/or visit the Exhibit Hall, it will be necessary for him/her to register online as a conference attendee.

SYMPOSIUM CHECK-IN
All speakers will register at the Speaker Check-In and Lounge. Please arrive at least one hour before your session time. A volunteer will be available to assist you with any last minute preparations in your room, provide an introduction at the start of your session and keep you apprised of the time remaining during the last 15 minutes of your session.
