Many people are choosing to work well past age 65. It is important that organizations understand Medicare, the differences between Medicare and most employer Group Health Plans, and who pays first when an employee is enrolled in Medicare. Participants in this session will examine how their Group Health Plans work with Medicare, and will be able to demonstrate how to best support and guide employees who are Medicare eligible. Plus, work in a problem-based learning exercise by looking at different case studies.
Learning objectives for the workshop:
- Describe the options for an employee who is becoming eligible for Medicare
- Differentiate Medicare coverage from the coverage provided through most Employer Group Plans
- Identify who will pay first if an employee is enrolled both in Medicare and an Employer Group Plan
