MORNING PROGRAM 1: Problematic Pay Practices: Steering Clear of the DOL and Greedy Lawyers*
Presented by David Jordan, Esq., Attorney, Littler Mendelson, P.C.
In this session, we will identify the troublesome and tricky pay practices that often get the attention of the Department of Labor and can subject your organization to significant liability. We will walk through these pay practices and study the ways you can tweak them to reduce the chances of exposing your organization to liability and minimizing the likelihood of litigation and DOL investigations.
MORNING PROGRAM 2: Immigration Challenges for Foreign Workers and Their Employers: Visa, Travel and “Oh No” Issues*
Presented by Avalyn Langemeier, JD, Attorney, Foster LLP
Gain insights on how to navigate legalities, risks and the ever-changing practices and policies. We will discuss timing considerations for petition and visa processing, documents to carry within the U.S. including if your petition is still pending and “oh no” issues, such as driver license renewal and criminal charges.
Luncheon presentation: The Essential Elements of Kind Leadership*
Presented by Keith Okano, President, Closing Strong, LLC
Kind leadership is strategic, not simply nice. Kind leadership drives an organization to align with its purpose, emphasizes delegation and training of subordinates (including executives), and defines a culture that powers the organization.
