Mistakes Happen*

Presented by Ruben Reyes, JD, LLM, Assistant Vice President, Compliance Counsel, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.

Mistakes will happen. Unfortunately, there is not a great deal of regulatory guidance on the topic of correcting mistakes, so employers and plan administrators must often use their reasonable, good faith judgment. We will discuss common mistakes and errors employers and plan administrators make, how to properly assess the situation, and identify the appropriate steps to correct.

PRESENTER BIO RUBEN REYES joined Gallagher in 2014, and has over 16 years of employee benefits and ERISA experience from both a corporate and law firm environment. Ruben handles a broad range of group health and welfare benefit plan matters including: plan design, administration, reporting and disclosure requirements, government filings and various federal regulations that impact group plans under. Ruben is a frequent speaker at several state and national professional organizations, such as: California State Bar Association, Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and HR Houston. Ruben has also been a guest lecturer on the topic of ACA at U.C. Berkeley, School of Law (Boalt Hall). Ruben is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz. He received his JD from San Francisco School of Law and his LLM in Taxation from Golden Gate University, School of Law. He is a licensed attorney.

Credit Hours

*The meeting offers 1 PDC for the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP and 1 hour of HR (General) credit towards PHR and SPHR recertification requirements.

Cancellations may be made with a full refund up to 72 hours prior to the meeting.  Individuals who register and neither cancel nor attend are not eligible for refund or rescheduling.  Substitutions may be made at any time.
