FMLA and ADA Workshop: Understanding and Managing Leaves of Absence and Other Accommodations*

FMLA and ADA Workshop: Understanding and Managing Leaves of Absence and Other Accommodations*

Presented by Alexis C. Knapp, JD, SHRM-SCP, SPHR

This interactive, example-driven program will provide coverage of employer obligations, and employee rights, under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Department of Labor’s implementing regulations. The scope of the program includes basic, fundamental FMLA concepts, as well as more nuanced issues faced by human resources professionals, supervisors, and managers every day—and the course will address these topics in light of the heightened awareness by the DOL and the courts of employee medical leave issues.

You’ll also have the opportunity to work through more advanced issues such as overlapping leave obligations under the FMLA and ADA, complex employee leave and return to work situations, and some of the more complicated administrative issues resulting from an organization’s obligations under these laws.  The format of this presentation will include delivery of traditional content, as well as extensive use of hypotheticals drawing on real employee leave situations.

Credit Hours

*The workshop offers 12 PDCs for the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP and 12 hours of HR (General) credit towards PHR and SPHR recertification requirements.
