MORNING PROGRAM 1: The Four Steps to Creating an Award-Winning Culture*

In today’s competitive market, having a strong workplace culture is a must! Statics show that a company's culture has a direct impact on success, yet many leaders struggle with knowing how to create a healthy culture within their organization. HR professionals can stand ready to help by learning a proven model that helps leaders create an award-winning culture and ultimately improve company results.

TIM BURNINGHAM is an experienced leader in the health care industry. As a CEO and licensed administrator, Tim led his facility to multiple deficiency-free surveys, a 5-star CMS rating, several awards for outstanding performance, and recognition as a top 100 Nursing Homes by U.S. News and World Report. Tim is currently the President of The Culture Guide, LLC, a management consulting firm specializing in leadership, company culture, and team development. Tim is author of several books including Be an Awesome Boss! and How Leader’s Can Strengthen Their Organizations Culture. He is also host of The Culture Guide podcast. 

MORNING PROGRAM 2: Opioids in The Workplace* 

Presented by Richard Alaniz, Partner, Alaniz Law & Associates, PLLC

The epidemic of opioid abuse that has so dramatically impacted the country has serious potential for the workplace as well. A 2017 survey found that 70% of employers reported experiencing impact on their operations by prescription drug abuse. No industry is immune to the opioid problem. There are reasonable, cost-effective steps that employers can take. Action that complies with the dictates of the EEOC and the ADA, and similar state laws can be challenging. Taking the lawful and necessary steps will help maintain a workplace that is safe for all employees.

RICK ALANIZ has been at the forefront of labor and employment law for over forty years representing employers in a variety of industries. He began his legal career in the Office of the Solicitor of the U.S. Department of Labor, served on the President's Cost of Living Council during the Nixon Administration and also held prominent posts within the National Labor Relations Board, first in Washington D.C. and later in Minneapolis where he was active in the NLRB's enforcement actions in a five-state Midwestern region.
