Experienced benefits professionals will lead participants through core benefits topics, providing foundation knowledge for monitoring and managing employer-sponsored programs for effectiveness, compliance and relevance.  The workshop is offered in partnership with the Houston Chapter of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS). 


Participants will learn:

  • The different types of tax-favored health plan savings and funding accounts
  • Common pharmacy benefit structure and cost management techniques
  • Wellness program approaches, resources and compliance considerations
  • Financial wellness programs and the benefits to employees and organizations
  • HIPAA compliance basics
  • Benefits technology and recent advances
  • Health plan compliance – the state of the ACA and ACHA
  • The responsibilities of retirement fiduciaries and methods to educate employees around long-term saving

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS: The sessions will be led by Certified Employee Benefit Specialists and professionals recognized as experts in the benefits community. They have broad experience with corporate HR departments, consulting firms and carriers. 


CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS: Submitted to SHRM for 6 Professional Development Credits (PDCs) towards the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP.  Submitted to HR Certification Institute for 6 hours of  HR (General) credit towards PHR and SPHR recertification requirements.  Submitted to ISCEBS for 6 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.

Cancellations may be made with a full refund up to 5 business days prior to the workshop.  Individuals who register and neither cancel nor attend are not eligible for refund or rescheduling.  Substitutions may be made at any time; however, substitutions may incur an additional fee due to differences in the member type, e.g., substituting a non-member for a member registration.

You must turn onto EAST TC Jester and travel North approx 2 blocks to “Entrance 5” of the office park named “The Preserve”. Turn Right at Entrance 5 and look for the second garage marked Building 2190 for parking.  Registered attendees will receive an email confirmation with driving directions at least 24 hours prior to the start of the workshop
