ANNOUNCEMENT FROM SHRM SENIOR VP FOR MEMBERSHIP

I am pleased to share that SHRM’s President and CEO, Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, has been named by the U.S. Department of Commerce as a member of the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board.
Johnny will join a group of administration officials and business leaders from various sectors who will advise on effective solutions to address the workforce skills gap problem. The Board will guide on workforce policy and recommend pathways to encourage private sector and educational institutions to invest in education and training opportunities. As you know, SHRM supports and leads workforce development initiatives to combat the skills crisis. This includes our:
- Evidence-based research;
- Alliance with the Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy;
- Partnership with Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG);
- Leadership on the Section 127 Coalition to expand educational assistance and;
- Efforts to promote hiring from underutilized talent pools—such as veterans, people with disabilities and those with criminal records.
