Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for your volunteer interest! Participating on one or more of our committees is a great opportunity to learn new skills, make professional connections, and give back to the local community all while having fun and building new relationships.
How to Get Involved:
- Volunteering is a benefit of membership and you must be a current member of HR Houston to participate

- Committees will hold a mix of in-person meetings and projects held on-site at our community partners' locations (when applicable)

Our Symposium Committee helps to educate the public, promote the conference, and support the plans that are made for the Symposium by participating on various project teams:
- Catering - Assist in the selection of food to be served at the Symposium!
- Concurrent Sessions - Review speaker proposals and recommend the sessions that you believe will be the most popular and/or educational.
- PACKING - Lots of help needed here!! Lend a hand at the Chapter Office by preparing for conference move-in.
- SOCIAL MEDIA - Commit to getting the word out – boost excitement by promoting through your social media outlets!
- SILENT AUCTION – Help solicit items for the Silent Auction. All proceeds raised from the Silent Auction will be donated to the SHRM Foundation.

Our HR Gives Back committee members donate their time and expertise to charitable projects that support the community! Members have numerous opportunities to:
- Work as a team on local service projects that use their HR talents and skills to benefit the workplace
- Represent HR Houston as you work with community partners: NextOp Veterans, The Woman's Home, and The WorkFaith Connection helping others with education, job and workplace needs
- Build relationships with other professionals in the chapter and have fun!

Our University Liaison committee members build relationships with students in HR programs at local colleges! Members will:
- Support students in HR programs at local colleges and universities by attending their meetings and other events per requests made to HR Houston’s Chapter Office to share HR information and resources
- Develop presentations on relevant topics for HR students that can be offered on an ongoing basis by committee members
- Build relationships with other professionals in the chapter and have fun!
Prerequisite that you have a minimum of 2-3 years working experience in the HR field.
